Steel and aluminum are both popular boatbuilding materials, offering high strength and durability. Due to its high strength and flexibility, steel is primarily used in hull construction and for the construction of larger yachts and ships, whereas aluminum, due to its light weight, is also used for weight-saving deck superstructures on steel ships. Both metals corrode, albeit differently, and should be protected with a good coating system.
