The most commonly used boatbuilding material today is made of glass-fiber-reinforced polyester resin. This material is characterized by its high strength and low weight. The smooth outer skin is the protective gelcoat made of polyester resin. Its sensitivity to UV radiation leads to chalking of the gelcoat. However, regular maintenance with the right polishes and Swissvax Gelcoat Infusion Wax can prevent this process for many years.
